“It’s not the problem; it’s how you deal with it.” That was the advice Lucas Goring’s dad gave him when he was growing up and he says it still serves him well today. Every commercial real estate deal has its problems – or challenges, to use the preferred euphemism – but Lucas says he enjoys solving those problems during the process of closing a commercial real estate loan. He also likes putting the deals together and watching them evolve from start to finish.

Lucas moved to the Twin Cities from the family farm in southern Minnesota when he was in the third grade. There was a bit of culture shock, he recalls, but the move also opened doors, as he got to play many sports – baseball, soccer, football, hockey and basketball – that wouldn't have been available to him at such a young age in the rural community he left behind. Lucas credits those sports with teaching him many valuable life lessons, including winning and losing, competitiveness, behaving with class and teamwork.

When he’s not handling his clients’ needs, Lucas still enjoys being outdoors – playing fast pitch softball, attending ballgames at Target Field and running the lawn care business he started in college. In fact, he says he enjoys his part-time lawn care business so much that he'd be doing it full time if he hadn’t found Venture Mortgage. We’re glad Lucas decided to focus on mowing down mortgage problems instead of Kentucky bluegrass. You will be, too.
