Nicki Kunz joined Venture Mortgage in 1993 and says she quickly fell “head over heels” for commercial real estate – lucky for us, our clients and lenders. Nicki’s eagerness to learn, talent and passion for mortgage banking quickly became evident, and she swiftly moved up through the ranks to the position of Mortgage Analyst and then Assistant VP.
In her current role, Nicki is primarily responsible for the closing process, and is also involved in some servicing tasks. Noting that every loan is different, she says that the creative problem solving that is required during processing is one of the best parts of her job – that and the positive feedback she receives from both borrowers and lenders after a successful closing. As someone who has worked at Venture Mortgage almost since the company was founded, Nicki says she can’t imagine working anywhere else.
Nicki credits her mom and dad for instilling her with good values, particularly persistence, compassion and an appreciation for the importance of both hard work and family time. In moments of reverie, she says that she would love to travel the world with her husband and kids. For now, however, she and her husband mostly concentrate on raising their children. They enjoy biking, hiking, golfing, coaching their kids’ sports and watching pro football.
