Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Administrative Generalist

We are seeking a self-motivated team player, who is highly organized, analytical, social and can handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.  The CRE Administrative Generalist provides administrative support and maintains effective work relationships (internally and externally) for the overall operations of the Company.  This position coordinates projects and tasks and performs duties as directed within determined time frames with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and requires good judgement, precise care, attention to detail and follow-up.  Assists with special projects as needed, and will cross-train in other support functions (marketing, research, general administrative support, loan servicing and loan closings) to provide coverage and support, while contributing to the overall success of the Company.

 CRE Administrative Generalist Job Duties

  • Orders third-party reports (PCA, Phase I, Appraisal, Survey, Title, etc.).  Monitors and ensure deadlines are met, reviews reports when complete.
  • Completes and reviews estoppel and SNDA forms.  Sends and monitors the collection of fully executed forms.
  • Assists loan servicing manager with portfolio property inspections and financial analysis.
  • Assists loan originators and loan closer with general administrative functions and assignments.
  • Creates and updates marketing lists and sends email marketing templates using MailChimp.
  • Assists in processing commercial mortgage loans and operational company files.
  • Performs data input functions, creates and manages electronic files and documents, prepares mailings, proofs documents for accuracy, maintains sensitive and confidential information, organizes and files important company related information.
  • Maintains professional competencies, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively complete tasks.
  • Enhances job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
  • Performs additional ad hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience

  • Minimum of one to three years of relevant work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Individual courses, certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in administrative support, bookkeeping, business or accounting is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial real estate, asset / portfolio management, acquisition, mortgages, finance and/or accounting is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills including listening, verbal and writing skills and ability to process information timely and accurately is required.
  • Solid understanding and/or knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook e-mail/calendars, etc.) and internet functionalities are required.
  • Experience and familiarity with Salesforce.com and its workflow processes and reporting is a plus.

Skills/Abilities

  • Requires sound judgment, critical thought, problem solving abilities, initiative, adherence to compliance issues, accuracy, and efficiency in daily function.
  • Involves frequent contact with company leadership, loan producers and vendors; occasional contact with borrowers and borrower’s staff primarily for the purpose of furnishing or obtaining factual information.  All communication requires diplomacy, courtesy, efficiency, the ability to exercise patience with a wide variety of personalities and a high degree of confidentiality, at the same time setting and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated competence in building positive working relationships (both internal and external).
  • Proven ability to proficiently and accurately maintain and organize efficient and effective filing systems (manually and electronically); create and manage workflow processes manually and with automation where appropriate; input, update and manipulate information databases.
  • Is proactive, reliable, self-motivated, organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have a professional demeanor with a customer service focus, excellent organizational and follow through skills, ability to generate professional reports, correspondence, etc. and can be trusted to handle confidential/private and sensitive material with discretion.
  • Understands commercial real estate jargon and terms. 
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.

Commercial Real Estate Investment Analyst

 Investment Analyst Job Duties

  • Provides analytical support for loan producers, including the preparation of preliminary and final sizing models and packages for lender submissions.
  • Creates narratives, graphics and data summaries using all available data sources.
  • Provides research and analysis of all economic factors impacting real estate fundamentals and investments within a local metropolitan statistical area (MSA) and submarkets.
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge of investment standards, criteria, and program requirements, including money availability of institutional correspondent and non-correspondent investors.
  • Exhibits clear understanding of the closing and servicing function of the correspondent system.
  • Fosters good working relationships and provides exceptional customer service internally and externally.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, commercial real estate, accounting, economics or finance is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of one to three years of relevant experience in commercial real estate underwriting or investment analysis or asset / portfolio management or finance and/or accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate, title and/or mortgage business is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills including listening, verbal and writing skills to process information timely and accurately is required.

  • Ability to think critically through problems to come to a solution.  Manage and prioritize several aspects of commercial real estate lending while meeting deadlines.  Deal courteously, efficiently and effectively with prospective and existing clients.
  • Understands commercial real estate jargon and terms. 
  • Strong financial analysis skills; requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles with demonstrated analytical skills to accurately calculate NOI, DSC, LTV, LTC, etc.

Commercial Mortgage Banker Job Duties

  • From a provided database of prospects, make telephone calls to owners of commercial real estate to advise and explain the benefits of using Venture Mortgage as a partner when seeking debt. You will also work to develop your own leads and prospects through referrals and networking at events and other opportunities.
  • Make use of a combination of company provided software, public databases, and online search engines to aggregate relevant data for the use of Venture Mortgage Corporation’s attempts to monitor the market and increase loan origination volume.
  • After engaging borrowers and receiving financial data, evaluate potential investments for submission to lenders, including internal underwriting and creation of loan submission packages.
  • Work to build and maintain relationships with commercial real estate investors, lenders, and other industry partners.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience

  • Has completed a 4-year degree from an accredited institution in Real Estate, Finance, Business, or a closely related field or, in lieu of a degree, has 6 or more years of related experience in sales, finance, commercial real estate, or commercial lending.
  • Dynamic and compelling demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills; is disciplined, structured, focused and is able to set goals and see them to completion.
  • Is coachable, eager to learn, comfortable with ambiguity, well-versed in the jargon of lending and commercial real estate banking or has the ability to become so, has an aptitude for financial analysis, and has the ability to be proactive and adapt to new situations with relative ease.
  • An active MN Real Estate license is strongly preferred.
